Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
Your trust means a lot to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information the ily Discord bot and website ("ily," "we," "us," or "our") collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to your use of the bot, this website, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy and to our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
ily is designed to collect only what it needs to provide its features. The information we store includes:
- Discord identifiers: server (guild) IDs, channel IDs, role IDs, and user IDs, used to associate settings and records with the right place.
- Settings and records you create: economy balances and inventories, XP/levels, warnings and moderation logs, tags, giveaways, reaction and self roles, starboard entries, autoresponders, birthdays, time zones, invite tracking, vanity tracking, and premium status and redeem-code records.
- Optional linked data: a Last.fm username if you choose to link one for music features.
- Profile change history: for features that track it, the bot may record changes to user avatars and usernames so commands like avatar/name history can work.
- Presence data: the bot reads Discord presence (such as custom status and Spotify/Last.fm rich presence) at the time it is needed to power vanity roles and music/now-playing features.
Message content. Some features (such as automod, the word filter, and command processing) read message content in memory at the moment a message is sent. This content is not retained except where you explicitly save it — for example, sticky messages, tags, starboard entries, and the short-lived snipe cache of recently deleted/edited messages.
Website & future dashboard. The website itself does not require an account to browse. A web dashboard is planned that would use Discord OAuth2 (with the identify and guilds scopes). If and when you use it, we may process your Discord account and server information and session data in order to log you in and let you manage settings.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information solely to operate and provide the Service's features in your server, to maintain and secure the bot, to enforce our Terms, and to respond to your requests. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable law (such as the EU/UK GDPR) requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Service for core features; on your consent for optional features you choose to enable (for example, linking a Last.fm account); and on compliance with legal obligations where relevant. You may withdraw consent for optional features at any time by disabling them or contacting us.
4. Third Parties & Subprocessors
To provide the Service, information may be processed by or shared with the following, only as needed:
- Discord — the platform the Service runs on.
- Last.fm — if you link an account, to fetch your listening data.
- Ko-fi — for voluntary premium contributions and code delivery.
- External command APIs — certain commands send the necessary input to third-party services (for example, OCR, weather, dictionary, translation, and search providers such as DuckDuckGo or YouTube).
- Hosting provider— our infrastructure/hosting provider stores the bot's database on our behalf.
These third parties handle data under their own privacy policies. We do not control their practices and encourage you to review them.
5. Data Retention
We retain stored data for as long as it is needed to provide the Service — generally while the bot remains in your server. Removing the bot from a server stops further data collection for that server, and associated server data may be deleted or become inactive. Some records may persist for a limited time in backups or where retention is necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
6. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability (for example, under the GDPR/UK GDPR), as well as rights to know about and request deletion of personal information and not to be discriminated against for exercising them (for example, under the CCPA/CPRA). You can exercise common choices directly:
- Remove the bot from your server to stop further data collection for that server.
- Use the relevant command to remove specific data (for example, unlinking your Last.fm username).
- Contact us to request access to, or deletion of, your data.
We will respond to verifiable requests within a reasonable time and as required by applicable law. Note that some identifiers (such as server and user IDs) are necessary for the Service to function, so deleting them may require removing the bot.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age required to use Discord in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we store. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the Service at your own risk.
9. International Users & Transfers
ily is operated from the United States, and your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in such locations.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and material changes may be announced in our support server. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
